Identified by modest contrasts of black and white or a kaleidoscopic range of colours, often uncompromising in their geometry, the photographs of Volker Seding are captured with a softer focus and are at once atmospheric yet with crisply rendered details. Before immigrating to Canada, German-born Seding studied under the master photographer Klaus Berger in Hannover, GE and attended art school where he studied drawing, painting and cinematography.

His work has been exhibited widely across North America and can be found in numerous important institutions and private collections, including the Art Gallery of Ontario; Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, Ottawa; Winnipeg Art Gallery; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; National Gallery of Canada; amongst many others.
